A quiet revolution will be celebrated in Middle Georgia on April 25 in Macon, Georgia. At first glance the Methodist Home for Children and Youth hardly seems to be the place for revolutions - even quiet ones.  And Macon and the rest of Middle Georgia appear to be an unlikely spot for aiding and abetting such activity.  Yet, the way this area has across the years rallied support for The Methodist Children's Home, giving land, opening doors, trading tears for smiles and in effect restoring childhoods - is nothing less than revolutionary.  From Boston, where The Methodist Home was awarded "The Organization of the Year" award in 2006, to California, where Patches of the Quilt:  True Stories from a Children's Home was a winner in the prestigious This quiet revolution in Middle Georgia is described in the award winning "Patches of the Quilt: True Stories from a Children’s Home." San Francisco Book Festival Award (2009), the work of The Home and of Middle Georgia has been honored.  The untold story of how the citizens of Middle Georgia embraced hundreds of at-risk children as far back as Reconstruction Days is a fascinating, unique, and sacred part of this area's heritage.
