~ Metadata for Freedonia Focus Reports will be
Included in Base Index of EBSCO Discovery Service™ ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — May 22, 2012 — The Freedonia Group’s Focus Reports Collection providing, US, World and International, country specific market research reports will be searchable via EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS) from EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO).
A new agreement adds Freedonia’s extensive and reliable research to the Base Index of EDS. The Freedonia Focus Reports provide tangible insight and analysis into 18 industry categories and 15 countries through more than 750 concise market research reports. The addition of these business reports will provide deeper coverage of the already vast selection of subject areas available in EBSCO Discovery Service.

Clint Delafield, Executive Vice President of Business Development for The Freedonia Group says inclusion in EBSCO Discovery Service is another step forward in our commitment to serving the academic community and making our content more visible to our impressive and growing list of academic subscribers. “For decades the global 1000 manufactures, investment banks and leading global consultancies have turned to Freedonia for reliable insights while mapping out their strategies, making investment decisions and serving their clients. Freedonia is committed to providing affordable access to the academic community to that same world class market research to assist in their mission of preparing today’s students to become tomorrow’s leaders.”

Freedonia’s Focus Reports offer accurate and reliable forecasts, trend analysis and competitive intelligence for business decision makers. The reports contain industry insights and analysis including market size, product segmentation, market segmentation, product forecasts, industry composition, market leaders and business trends. Reports are approximately eighteen to twenty-five pages in length and are composed by in-house industry analysts.

EBSCO Discovery Service offers much fuller metadata than any other discovery service, and the valuable data from Freedonia’s Focus Reports adds even more value and usefulness to end users. The data delivers an unbiased outlook and a reliable assessment of an industry — a valuable resource for business research. This is a great complement to existing content available as part of EDS, which already incorporates robust metadata.

Freedonia is part of a growing list of publishers and other content partners that are taking part in EDS to bring more visibility to their content. Partners include the world’s largest scholarly journal & book publishers including Elsevier, Wiley Blackwell, Springer Science & Business Media, Taylor & Francis Informa, Sage Publications, and thousands of others. Partners also include content providers, such as LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters (Web of Science), JSTOR, ARTstor, Credo Reference, World Book, ABC-CLIO, and many others.

The EDS Base Index represents content from approximately 20,000 providers (and growing) in addition to metadata from another 70,000 book publishers, representing far more content providers and publishers than any other discovery service.

EBSCO Discovery Service creates a unified, customized index of an institution’s information resources, and an easy, yet powerful means of accessing all of that content from a single search box—searching made even more powerful because of the quality of metadata and depth and breadth of coverage.

EBSCO Discovery Service is quickly becoming the discovery selection for many libraries (www.ebscohost.com/discovery/eds-news), and an obvious partner for content providers. Because the service builds on the foundation provided by the EBSCOhost® platform, libraries gain a full user experience for discovering their collections/OPAC—which is not typical in the discovery space. Further still, in the many universities and other libraries where EBSCOhost is the most-used platform for premium research, users are not asked to change their pathways or habits for searching. There’s simply more to discover on the familiar EBSCOhost platform, and the same can be said for library administrators who can leverage their previous work with EBSCOadmin™.
