EBSCO sponsors the 2012 Horizon Award, which gives a new information professional the opportunity to attend this year’s NASIG Annual Conference

Birmingham, Ala. — May 9, 2012 — EBSCO is pleased to congratulate Jane Skoric, cataloging and metadata librarian at Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, Calif., on receiving the 2012 North American Serials Interest Group (NASIG) Horizon Award. The award, sponsored by EBSCO, recognizes a promising new information professional; it covers the cost of travel, registration, and lodging for three nights while the recipient attends the NASIG Annual Conference in Nashville, June 7–10, 2012.

Each year, the Horizon Award gives a first-time NASIG conference attendee the opportunity to advance within his or her profession by networking with other attendees from a wide range of fields within the serials information chain, including vendors, publishers, and non-traditional serialists. The award encourages continued participation in NASIG conferences and events, and also includes a one-year membership to NASIG.

Applicants must be first-time attendees of the NASIG Annual Conference and hold a position working with some aspect of serials within the information profession. This year’s applicants submitted essays addressing the 2012 NASIG conference theme: “Creating Harmony from Dis-Chord.”

“I am absolutely delighted and most honored to have received the NASIG Horizon Award,” said Skoric. “I feel extremely fortunate to attend the NASIG Conference, and I very much look forward to developing relationships with experienced and insightful individuals working within the serials information community.”
