COLUMBUS, OH --July 11, 2009-- LibLime, the leader in open-source solutions for libraries, announced today that Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, has selected a Koha ZOOM hosted solution for their next integrated library system.

The Koha installation will be hosted off site at one of LibLime's secure data centers. The Library has also contracted with LibLime for data migration of their 80,000 bibliographic records, support and training services.

Madonna University is a private Catholic, liberal arts institution located in the Detroit suburb of Livonia, Michigan, within easy commuting distance from Ann Arbor, Michigan and Windsor, Canada. The University enrolls over 3,000 students at its main campus and three satellite locations, and offers programs in more than 75 undergraduate and 27 graduate areas. It is nationally recognized for pioneering four-year degrees in sign language, hospice, and gerontology.

"Madonna University is a primarily a commuter institution, with the majority of students balancing school, family, and job responsibilities. It is imperative that students maximize research time to acquire quality resources. The Library strives to respond to patron needs by offering user-friendly, flexible programs that enhance access to critical research materials," says Director Joanne Lumetta.

"The Koha ILS should prove to be a cost-effective, adaptable, and innovative solution to user problems encountered with the previous proprietary system," Lumetta adds.

The Library is looking forward to Koha's intuitive interface, ease of use, and ability to customize. Koha's enhanced content (book covers) and shelf browsing features are also expected to be popular among staff and students.

    About Madonna University

Madonna University Library supports the research needs of University students, staff, and faculty with a collection of more than 110,000 print and electronic books, multimedia resources, and 125 subscription databases that provide 24/7 access to over 25,000 online full text journals. Reciprocal borrowing agreements with several nearby colleges and universities, as well as library participation in the Southeastern Michigan League of Libraries Infopass program, enable students to take advantage of the extensive research resources in the Detroit-Ann Arbor area. Interlibrary loan and document delivery services further extend the availability of library materials.

Librarians offer expert assistance, opportunities for individual consultation, classes and workshops to ensure that students access, evaluate, and use information effectively in the research process. Library facilities provide wireless access and include quiet study areas in addition to rooms for collaborative work.

ITG will be the exclusive US distributor of Dialoc’s electromagnetic security systems to the library industry.

Norcross, Ga. – Netherlands-based Dialoc ID has selected Integrated Technology Group (ITG), a division of Vernon Library Supplies, Inc., as its exclusive US distributor of electromagnetic (EM) security systems to the library industry. ITG may also provide Dialoc ID products to libraries in Canada.

“Dialoc ID’s EM security technology completes our product line. For many years, we have provided libraries with both RF and RFID security systems in addition to self-checkout systems that interface with those two technologies, as well as EM security. Now, we will be able to deliver a fully integrated EM solution to libraries,” said Shai Robkin, President and CEO of ITG.

“While we develop all of our software solutions and many of our hardware products in house, when it came to EM security, we wanted to go with a tried and proven performer,” added Robkin. “It was fortuitous that at the same time that we were looking for the best EM system to offer our customers, Dialoc ID was looking for a North American distribution channel.”

ITG will host Dialoc ID executives in its booth at the 2009 ALA Annual Conference, July 9-15 at McCormick Place West in Chicago. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience Dialoc’s electronic article surveillance (EAS) technology at booth #1021 throughout the show, including the new Diamond EM/RFID hybrid system. ITG will also introduce a program that allows libraries that install RFID-ready EM pedestals that allow for easy, cost effective RFID upgrades in the future.

Dialoc ID has been a world leader in the EAS field since 1977, delivering EAS technology to libraries for more than two decades. The company has thousands of security systems installed in more than 35 countries. Through its partnership with ITG, Dialoc ID will bring its EM technology to the North American library market, which is currently dominated by a single provider, 3M.

“We look forward to demonstrating to American libraries what libraries in the rest of the world have known for many years about the advancements we have brought to EM security technology,” said Willem Angel, Chairman of Dialoc ID Holdings BV.

“We are particularly delighted to have found a partner like ITG that has been so successful in providing materials flow management solutions to libraries in the US and Canada,” added Cor de Nood, CEO and Technical Director of Dialoc ID.”

ROCHESTER, N.Y., JULY 02, 2009 – At Kirtas Technologies, mass digitization has always been viewed as a long-term investment. By bringing centuries’ worth of rare bound materials back to life for the digital age, digitization becomes an investment in the future and new technology. Today, it also becomes an investment in knowledge that anyone can make.

Invest in Knowledge is a new, innovative—patent pending—initiative introduced by Kirtas in conjunction with the company’s Digitize on Demand program and retail Web site, www.kirtasbooks.com. The program allows anyone to subsidize the digitization of the world’s knowledge one book at a time.

Anyone who purchases a book to be digitized, through the Invest in Knowledge initiative, from Kirtasbooks.com will receive a reprint of that book, as well as 5% of all future sales of that book through that web site. Consumers can invest in as many books as they would like.

“This is such a tremendous opportunity for the average consumer to help support and fund the digitization of some amazing collections of books,” noted Tom DeMay, vice president, business development. “So not only are consumers doing the right thing, but if they want to ask ‘what’s in it for me?’ We can give you a great answer. Several titles or one popular book could provide a nice return on investment over time, creating a true lifelong investment in knowledge.”

“This is the first mass digitization program that will make unique collections available to the public in a way that increases access, achieves preservation, and benefits at the same time the library, its patrons and the general consumer,” said Kirtas Founder and CEO Lotfi Belkhir. “And it does so without compromising quality or the ownership rights of the libraries to their digitized content.” To learn more about Invest in Knowledge, invest in a book or set up an account, visit www.kirtasbooks.com.
