DULUTH, Ga., February 21, 2017 -- Equinox is pleased to announce that Polk County Public Library successfully migrated to Evergreen within the NC Cardinal Consortium at the end of January, 2018.

This migration added 8,060 patrons and 50,475 bibliographic records to the NC Cardinal Consortium from the Polk County Public Library including their Columbus Library and Saluda Library branches. As part of the project, Equinox migrated bibliographic, item, patron and transaction records. The process also included deduplication of bibliographic records, training, project management and software configuration by Equinox.

“We are very grateful for the support and guidance of the Equinox team throughout our migration to NC Cardinal,” said Rishara Finsel, Director of the Polk County Library. “Migrations are complex and intimidating, but the Equinox staff guided us gently through the process. Their attention to detail and quick responses to questions made our migration go off without a hitch.”

NC Cardinal is part of a growing consortia of libraries in North Carolina aiming to increase accessibility and resource sharing through the implementation of a single library catalog. Polk County Public Library’s migration gives their patrons access to the consortium's 6.4 million records.

For Rogan Hamby, Data and Project Analyst at Equinox, partnering with local libraries across North Carolina and NC Cardinal have been a large part of the last year. "The staff at Polk have continued the trend of excellence I've seen from throughout North Carolina libraries and it was a pleasure to help them realize this milestone,” he said. “A consortium can enrich both staff and patron experiences. I'm always joyful to see another library join the larger open source library community and discover these opportunities."
