IPSWICH, Mass. — December 20, 2016 — Pediatric content in the evidence-based clinical reference tool DynaMed Plus® from EBSCO Health will benefit from the appointment of Scott Barron, M.D. as the Deputy Editor of Pediatrics. Dr. Barron brings with him over 20 years of experience in General and Emergency Pediatric Medicine to this new position.
A graduate of the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Barron completed his Pediatric Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University Of Central Florida College Of Medicine and a Pediatric Emergency Physician at the Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, he also served as the Director of Evidence-Based Pathways for the Pediatric Emergency Department at Nemours Children’s Hospital and as a leader in medical student education.
As a deputy editor, Dr. Barron oversees the integration of pediatric content for DynaMed Plus. He supervises medical writers and editors along with external peer reviewers to ensure that physicians and healthcare professionals have access to the most current, relevant, evidence-based clinical information available. EBSCO Health maintains a rigorous editorial process that includes subject-specific experts reviewing topics using a proprietary, evidence-based methodology and quality assurance process.

Following an earlier announcement Brill, the international scholarly publisher, today has completed the acquisition of Ferdinand Schöningh and Wilhelm Fink, including the imprint Konstanz University Press.
The Germany based publishing houses have an annual turnover of more than € 3 million. The acquisition is accretive and will strengthen Brill’s program in History, Theology, Literature and Cultural Studies, Media Studies and Philosophy. The publishing list comprises of a catalogue of 5,500 books and over 300 new titles per year as well as 7 journals.
Owner and Managing Director of the companies, Ms Voßhans-Schöningh, says: “The business has been family owned since 1847. It was not an easy decision for us to sell, but we are happy to have found the right partner to take our publishing houses into the future. The program of Brill, Schöningh and Fink are complementary and Brill has the right publishing environment and a big international network that will serve our customers, authors and the foundations we work with.”
Brill has appointed Jörg Persch as Managing Director of Schöningh and Fink. He will be responsible for the publishing program and local management. After 13 years Persch is leaving Vandenhoek & Ruprecht, where he was Publishing Director for Theology and Religion as well as Managing Director of their US subsidiary in Bristol, Connecticut.
