The Chinook Library Network Goes Live on Koha with ByWater Solutions

ByWater Solutions, an open source community supporter and the U.S.’ forefront provider of Koha (www.koha-community.org) support, announced today that the Chinook Library Network in Oregon is now live on their installation of the Koha integrated library system.

ByWater Solutions completed the migration for the first libraries to join the network — Lincoln County Library District, Oregon Coast Community College, Siletz Public Library, Tillamook Bay Community College, Toledo Public Library and Waldport Public Library — in June and will be providing ongoing support and hosting services for them and other libraries as they join the network.

The Chinook Library Network has a collection of over 155,000 titles. Their customized online catalog can be viewed here: http://www.chinooklibraries.org.

Diedre Conkling, Library Director, commented on the Library Network’s move to Koha and ByWater:

“The Chinook Library Network is a newly formed network of independent city, county and community college libraries working together through a shared catalog. The first members of our new network went live with Koha on June 11, 2012. We are very happy to now be a part of the Koha community and are learning more every day on how to take full advantage of the Koha ILS and we hope to be able to add more libraries after we are all a little more skilled with the new system.”

Brendan Gallagher, CEO of ByWater commented on the new partnership:

“I’m always excited to see groups of libraries come together like those in the Chinook Library Network have. The collaboration and cooperation of various types of libraries such as those in the Chinook Library Network exemplifies the ideals and goals of the Open Source Software Community and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with them going forward.”

    About The Chinook Library Network:
The Chinook Library Network is a newly formed network of independent city, county and community college libraries working together through a shared catalog. The network is administered by the Lincoln County Library District and came into being to broaden the base of materials or number of items available to our library users. The libraries that join the network all agree to share materials with the other libraries in the network and patrons may check out materials at any network libraries. The Chinook Library Network is connected through either a county courier system or the statewide courier (Orbis Cascade Alliance).
