LibLime Announces New Features in LibLime Academic Koha
“By Academic Librarians for Academic Librarians”

Bethesda, MD – July 20, 2011 -For over two years, LibLime has worked with Westchester Academic Library Directors Organization (WALDO), to build an ILS specifically for academic libraries. LibLime Academic Koha is the result. Designed, tested and used by academic librarians, LibLime Academic Koha offers the right platform for making an ILS be all that it can be. With LibLime and WALDO, academic librarians have the opportunity to work with like-minded professionals toward a shared goal of designing software that works for them.

Designed with the academic searcher in mind, LibLime Academic Koha features key enhancements to the OPAC. The library can choose a search syntax option that allows phrase searching and Boolean searching from the basic Search box. The result is that LibLime Academic Koha offers researchers a user friendly and well designed OPAC for quality academic searching.

LibLime Academic Koha displays both the 100 and 600 MARC fields in the OPAC. The display of personal name fields provides researchers with another access point for retrieval and further information to use in analyzing the usefulness of each item from the OPAC.

LibLime Academic Koha users can select from a variety of sources to display information in the OPAC – including book jacket sources. Recognizing that on occasion, these sources lack book jackets for items in academic collections, LibLime Academic Koha creates a book jacket for these items – so that a blank book jacket is not displayed to the searcher. One of the possible sources is LibraryThing for Libraries, which is implemented in the SIT library catalog at http://sit.waldo.kohalibrary.com/.

Farmington Hills, Mich., July 20, 2011 — Gale, part of Cengage Learning and a leading publisher of research and reference resources for libraries, schools and businesses, today announced new updates to Gale LegalForms, its online legal resource designed to help public library patrons, law students and practicing lawyers create accurate and reliable legal documents. All LegalForms products now include the Law Digest module, which contains law summaries for each state as well as a detailed, yet easy-to-understand, legal question and answer (Q&A) section. Enhancements have also been made to the user interface, making the resource easier to navigate.

“The updated Gale LegalForms product is delivering real-world legal information to customers in usable and customizable formats. The new features are providing additional value to our customers with the specific intent of simplifying the understanding of common law transactions and the forms used to represent them,” said Gerald Sawchuk, publisher, public library solutions, Gale. “Gale LegalForms is now even easier to use with summaries of the major laws in language everyone can understand.”

Gale LegalForms offers an easy-to-use, state-by-state and step-by-step approach to addressing basic legal matters, such as developing a will, conducting real estate transactions including rental or lease agreements, and more. Users have access to thousands of customizable online legal documents that are available anytime from any place. Many of the forms can be used across all 50 states, while the resource also includes forms unique to each particular state. Coupled with the straightforward interface, users avoid hours of research often required to develop legal documents. Users can simply locate the appropriate form that’s needed by using the homepage links, download the form and plug in their information. Gale LegalForms is a vastly different service than other online legal products – it offers a well-organized collection of forms actually used in legal practices, not just outlines or templates of forms, and allows users to edit the forms as they need.

Gale LegalForms now also includes a Law Digest module which contains access to a collection of case law summaries for all 50 states that are ideal for research. Within each Law Digest entry users can find additional resources, including government organizations and their contact information, a bibliography for further research, and links to related subjects. The Legal Q&A section houses a collection of real attorney-provided legal answers to questions from everyday people. In addition, updates have been made to the interface to create a clean, more-streamlined appearance, and allow for quick access to the most important content from the home page (without scrolling), and stronger search functions for overall easier site navigation.

These additional resources and enhancements have been given to current LegalForms customers at no additional cost. For more information on Gale LegalForms or to request a trial, please visit http://www.gale.cengage.com/LegalForms/ or contact Kristina Massari at kristina.massari@cengage.com.
