Bethesda, MD – May 3, 2011 – LibLime announces the development of ‘Patron Record Ownership’ functionality for LibLime Koha, sponsored by the Pioneer Library Consortium.

Patron Record Ownership functionality was designed for libraries who wish to have more control over their patron records, and which staff members have permissions to create, edit, and delete those records, in LibLime Koha.

This feature is especially useful for consortia that employ a union catalog, yet want each member library to maintain autonomous control over their respective patron records. Consortia with a combination of independent libraries and multi-branch systems have the need to limit patron records to the library or system to which the patron belongs.

Patron record ownership will allow for libraries to view and edit only their own patron records, while libraries in a multi-branch system will posses privileges to view and edit patron records from any of the branches in their system.

    About the Pioneer Library Consortium:
The PIONEER project began back in 2007 when the Nebraska Library Commission started working with a small group of librarians formed as an Open Source ILS Task Force. These explorations culminated in a 2008 Open Source ILS Symposium convened by the Nebraska Library Commission, and by 2009 seven interested libraries received grant funds to study the possibilities of taking their libraries in a new direction to address their Integrated Library System (ILS) needs. Feeling much like pioneers, this group dubbed itself the Pioneer Consortium. At this time four of those seven original pioneers are moving forward with LibLime Koha: Grand Island Public Library, Holdrege Public Library System, Lincoln City Libraries, and St. Paul Public Library.
