PHILADELPHIA, January 24, 2017 -- Annals of Internal Medicine, the flagship journal of the American College of Physicians (ACP), has launched a newly redesigned website at Annals.org. Annals collaborated with platform vendor Silverchair to create a faster and more efficient user experience for busy health care professionals, researchers, authors, and educators. A brief tour of new site features is available at http://annals.org/aim/pages/readers.

“Annals’ new journal site was designed to meet the needs of time-challenged professionals by providing improved functionality that enhances easy access to our varied content types, including our many multimedia online-exclusive features,” said Diane Scott-Lichter, Publisher of Annals of Internal Medicine. “This visual site enables users to spot the content they want or quickly find it through the enhanced search.”

The new site is fully responsive, allowing users to view content on any device, whether on desktop computer, tablet, or smartphone. The new site will also improve the discoverability of Annals content online.

The clean, efficient article layout makes it easier to navigate through the content and its associated elements, from abstracts and tables and figures, to CME/MOC and related articles. Annals has partnered with Altmetrics, a Digital Science company, to provide article-level altmetrics that complement traditional citation metrics that are provided.

The new design highlights Annals’ growing online content and multimedia features. Web-exclusive content includes Annals for Hospitalists, Annals Consult Guys, and Annals for Educators. Unique channels pages allow users to choose Annals’ most popular clinical categories in an instant with Selected Journal Features highlighted. And with Annals’ new state-of-the-art search function, users can search within channels and journal features for more precise results.

Annals of Internal Medicine is one of the most widely cited and influential medical journals in the world, with an impact factor of 16.593 -- the highest of any specialty journal in its category. Annals’ mission is to promote excellence in medicine, enable physicians and other health care professionals to be well informed members of the medical community and society, advance standards in the conduct and reporting of medical research, and contribute to improving the health of people worldwide. Established in 1927, Annals is the flagship journal of the American College of Physicians (ACP).
