Brill, the international scholarly publisher, is pleased to announce a pilot with research network ScienceOpen.

As of September 2016, three of Brill’s Linguistics journals will be indexed on the ScienceOpen platform. This includes adding of article-level metadata, reference analysis and linking back to Brill’s Books and Journals platform (http://booksandjournals.brillonline.com/). By indexing journals with ScienceOpen, Brill content will show usage data provided by Altmetric to inform users on how the articles have been discussed, mentioned or shared in online sources, including mainstream news outlets, blogs, and a variety of social networks. These data can be used to sort and filter articles in order to find relevant research and enhance research discoverability.

DUBLIN, Ohio, 4 August 2016—OCLC, the leading global library cooperative based in Dublin, will welcome thousands of librarians from around the world as the premier sponsor and a local host of the 2016 IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Columbus August 13-19.

The IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) is the international flagship professional and trade event for the library and information services sector. The event is expected to draw some 4,000 participants from more than 120 countries. It sets the international agenda for the library profession, and offers opportunities for networking and professional development.

“For decades, OCLC has been bringing libraries together through technology, services and other initiatives designed to make it possible to collaborate and share resources on a global scale,” said Skip Prichard, OCLC President and CEO. “IFLA will bring together the international library community in Columbus, and we’re thrilled to be able to welcome these leading librarians to our headquarters. OCLC staff will be out in full force during the congress, sharing our work and contributing to programs at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, as well as at numerous events on our Dublin campus.”

OCLC will host several events and programs, including IFLA Satellite Meetings in Dublin August 10-12, and again on August 19. About the authors:

Joanna M. Burkhardt is chair of the Technical Services Department, collection management officer, and director of the Narragansett Bay Campus and Providence Campus branch libraries of the University of Rhode Island. She is lead author of Teaching Information Literacy: 50 Standards-Based Exercises for College Students and Creating a Comprehensive Information Literacy Plan. She has written numerous articles and made presentations about instruction and information literacy.
