The Guards Magazine, the official journal of the Household Division, has digitised its complete 150-year history with the help of the British Library and in collaboration with Exact Editions. The new archive boasts a comprehensive search function and cross-platform accessibility, allowing users to browse through centuries of military history, including two world wars, at the touch of a button.

The majority of the magazine’s content is created by serving or former regimental members of the Household Division. Published three times a year, each issue of The Guard’s Magazine comprises 120 pages of regimental news, feature articles on both contemporary and historical subjects, images, obituaries, reviews, competitions and more. Transcending its military subject matter in terms of its academic value, the archive also serves as an invaluable record for social, economic, royal and constitutional historians.

Available across web, iOS and Android platforms, individual and institutional users can browse issues seamlessly for the ultimate cross-platform reading experience. The intuitive interface brings old editorial content back to life and the advanced search functionalities mean individual personnel and events can be located instantaneously.

The Guards Magazine is available in the Exact Editions individual and institutional shops here:

Editor Simon Doughty said: “We’re delighted with how great the archive looks on the Exact Editions platform. There’s a remarkable wealth of knowledge and historical insights within the archive’s pages and it is wonderful that our readers can now explore the Household Division’s history whenever they please.”

Managing Director of Exact Editions, Daryl Rayner, commented: “We’re thrilled to have worked with The Guards Magazine on this digitisation project. The new archive is a fascinating historical record and will be devoured by military history enthusiasts and academics alike."
