LISWire: Equinox and Above the Treeline Announce Edelweiss+Analytics Integration with Evergreen ILS
0May 23rd, 2018UncategorizedDULUTH, Ga. May 15, 2018: As part of their ongoing commitment to supporting public libraries, Above the Treeline and the Equinox Open Library Initiative are excited to announce an integration with Evergreen ILS and Edelweiss+Analytics. Libraries who use Evergreen will now enjoy a simple process to create ILS data feeds for Edelweiss+Analytics, resulting in a fast, easy setup process.
"Above the Treeline is bringing some exciting tools to the library world with their Edelweiss+ Analytics product. Equinox is proud to be providing the integration our customers and the broader Evergreen community need in order to benefit from these services," said Mike Rylander, Founder and President of Equinox.
Equinox Open Library Initiative is a nonprofit founded in 2007 by the original developers and designers of the Evergreen ILS, one of the first open source integrated library systems available. They currently help libraries and consortia of all types leverage Evergreen and collaborations with the open source community to best serve their patrons. The addition of Edelweiss+Analytics functionality provides Evergreen libraries with additional data and tools to help improve their collections, expanding upon the many ways that Evergreen helps promote resource-sharing.
“This integration is the result of collaboration between the teams at Equinox and Above the Treeline, who are both extremely passionate about supporting the work of library professionals,” said John Rubin, Founder and CEO of Above the Treeline, the company behind Edelweiss+. “With the technical setup time greatly reduced and the process simplified, libraries can quickly start using tools to help them manage their collection and maximize their budgets.”
The Edelweiss+ platform is used by over 100,000 book professionals to sell, discover, and order new titles. It hosts digital catalogs from all major publishers and over 95% of the US frontlist titles. Edelweiss+Analytics is an add-on module that allows libraries to simplify collection management and benchmark their performance. It helps librarians identify circulation trends, weed stale titles, select faster circulating titles, compare location and collection performance, benchmark to libraries and retailers across the country, and more.
The partnership between Equinox and Edelweiss+Analytics started as a result of mutual client, Richland Public Library. “We are very happy that Evergreen now works with Edelweiss. We are excited to be able to combine Evergreen and Edelweiss into one powerful package that allows us to see our checkout trends and target our spending in an effective manner to bring our patrons the material they want. A huge thank you to Equinox for being so responsive to our needs,” said Theresa Barnaby, Collection Development Supervisor at Richland Public Library.

0May 23rd, 2018UncategorizedDuluth, Ga., May 23, 2018: Equinox is pleased to announce the successful migration of Galion Public Library to Evergreen within the Consortium of Ohio Libraries (COOL).
The migration added 161,160 bibliographic records and 30,640 patrons to COOL. Equinox provided project management and software configuration to Galion Public Library. The Consortia of Ohio Libraries was founded in 2012 as part of a Library Service Technology Act grant by the State Library of Ohio. COOL partners with OhioNET to provide administrative support and services.
“It was a great pleasure working with Galion during their migration to Evergreen,” said Felicia Beaudry, Product and Implementation Trainer for Equinox. “The staff are truly dedicated to their community. They will make a great addition to the Consortium of Ohio Libraries - current members informed me they were excited to have Galion joining their ranks.”

Cameron’s Collection Provides Hanover County Public Schools with Educational Resources to Support Teen Mental Health and Wellness
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. and Ashland, Va. – May 23, 2018 – With teen mental illness on the rise , Gale, a Cengage company, is providing Hanover County Public School Division with Cameron’s Collection, a set of eBooks to support teens who are battling with mental health issues, as well as the overall mental health and wellness of the whole child. The collection is accessible online from the division’s middle and high schools’ library web pages, enabling students and parents to privately access the resources anytime, anywhere and school staff to utilize instructionally to assist students in need.
Hanover County Public School Division is in the Richmond, VA metropolitan area and has over 18,400 prek-12 students that attend 25 schools. More than 10,000 of those students attend the middle and high schools, where the collection is available.
“As a student-centered school division with a mission of educating the whole child, we view teen mental health and wellness as an essential component of every child’s education and well-being,” said Julie Tate, Library Media Services Curriculum Specialist, Hanover County Public Schools. “Cameron’s Collection provides our students with a digital safe haven, where they can access and explore resources privately to educate themselves and understand the mental health issues they are experiencing.” It’s timeliness, convenience and relevance makes it an invaluable source of information, not just for students and parents, but for our teachers and counselors to use in the classroom or group setting.”
Cameron’s Collection contains nearly 40 eBook titles, with topics ranging from depression, anxiety and suicide to anorexia, bullying, stress, self-injury and more. The collection also serves as an instructional resource for teachers and counselors to provide guidance to support struggling students.
With Cameron’s Collection:
• Students and Parents can privately access content related to sensitive teen issues via Gale’s eBooks on GVRL, from school or their own device as well as discover how to find professional help.
• Teachers and Counselors can use the collection as an instructional resource to help students in need as well as develop and share lessons that can be used in any classroom or group setting, encourage collaborative planning and wide spread use of a targeted resource.
The collection was created in honor of Cameron Gallagher, a bright and talented young girl battling depression and anxiety whose dream was to raise awareness and help erase the stigma about it. At the age of 16, she suddenly passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition. Gale, in collaboration with the Cameron K. Gallagher (CKG) Foundation created Cameron’s Collection to ensure schools are equipped with the educational resources to help struggling teens.
“Cameron’s Collection was built on the foundation of hope, that if teens were battling with anxiety, depression, stress or other forms of mental health issues, they could reach into this collection and find the answers they were seeking,” said Paul Gazzolo, senior vice president and general manager at Gale. “We applaud Hanover County Public Schools for investing in their students’ mental health and wellness and for partnering with Gale. We are thrilled to provide their school libraries with educational resources to create positive outcomes for learners and educators. Because together, we can empower change.”
