    Leiden / Boston / Paderborn / Singapore / Beijing – 11 December 2017

Brill, the international scholarly publisher, adds the renowned, peer-reviewed journal Revue de Synthèse to its growing portfolio of journals in Philosophy. Founded in 1900 by the esteemed philosopher Henri Berr as the Revue de synthèse historique, the journal is now in its seventh series and continues its founders’ intentions in the application of philosophical critique to the study of History, Sociology and Natural Sciences. Brill publishes the Revue de Synthèse on behalf of the Fondation pour la Science, which aims to make academic knowledge in the area of Philosophy and History of Science available to other subject areas and to the public.

Professor Éric Brian, editor of Revue de Synthèse, says: “We are proud that the journal will be published with Brill, a publishing house with such a rich history, a large disciplinary spectrum and a strong international focus. Since 1900, the journal has served as an international forum on historical methods and today builds bridges between Intellectual History, History of Sciences, Social Sciences and scholarship in general, while experimenting during the last decade with a multi-linguistic format. The new partnership fits with the Revue’s centenarian scientific aims and we look forward to seeing the journal reach a broad readership."

Professor Jochen Hoock, President of the Fondation pour la Science adds: "We view this new partnership with Brill as an opportunity to contribute to current reflections among scholars and publishers on the transformation of scientific publishing in our fields. The new cooperation with Brill will strengthen our capacities to fulfill the original international aims of the Fondation since 1924, and of the journal since 1900. We look forward to facilitating international exchange of experiences among scholars on this crucial topic, and of course developments in Intellectual History as promoted by the Revue de Synthèse.”

Jennifer Pavelko, Senior Acquisitions Editor for Philosophy, states: “We are excited by the possibilities this multi-lingual and interdisciplinary journal holds for the Philosophy program at Brill. We hope to enhance and support the journal as it continues to grow.”

Revue de Synthèse will continue under a dedicated editorial team. Volume 138.1-4 will be published by Brill in 2017 and Volume 138.1-2 and 138.3-4 in 2018, online and in print. Back volumes from 2007-2017 will be made available online. More information on the journal and pricing can be found at http://www.brill.com/products/journal/revue-de-synthese.
