    Leiden / Boston / Paderborn / Singapore – 31 March 2017

International publishing house Brill has joined a UK pilot project organized by Jisc, the Digital Archival Collections group purchasing pilot, aimed at lowering the costs of purchasing digital archival collections for UK university libraries and increasing access to important resources of primary source material.

Jisc, a non-profit organization, provides digital services and solutions for higher education in the UK. By organizing a group-purchasing pilot, Jisc aims to support Higher Education institutions with a more efficient, coordinated and transparent approach to the acquisition of digital archival collections. The pilot leverages institutions’ collective purchasing power to lower costs and will run from mid-March to July 2017. University libraries will be able to pledge for the collections they’re most interested in any time between March and mid-July through the Jisc Collections web site. The final cost of each resource will be calculated based on the collective number of pledges from institutions on any resources on offer by each of the participating publishers, resulting in significant savings than offered previously. Brill is one of three participating publishers.

The following Brill digital archival collections are available via the Jisc pilot:

    • Cuban Culture and Cultural Relations, 1959- : The Vertical Archive of the Casa de las Américas, Part 1: “Casa y Cultura”
    • Classic Mexican Cinema Online
    • Book Sales Catalogues Online
    • Middle Eastern Manuscripts Online 1: Pioneer Orientalists
    • Codices Vossiani Latini Online
    • Codices Hugeniani Online
    • North China Daily News Online
