Leiden (NL) / Boston (USA) / Singapore (SG) – 12 December 2016
International scholarly publisher Brill has launched the Encyclopedia of Chinese Language and Linguistics.
The Encyclopedia of Chinese Language and Linguistics (ECLL) is the most complete and up-to-date reference work on the Chinese language available today. It consists of more than 550 articles written by scholars from around the world, with the majority residing in Asia. Covering subjects on all possible aspects of Chinese, from morphology and language acquisition to sign language and youth language, this is a reference work no major research institution can be without.
The ECLL is available as a 5-volume print edition (www.brill/ecll) and online (www.brill.com/eclo) on Brill’s Reference Works platform.
The official launch of ECLL took place in Hong Kong and Singapore last week, in the presence of Editor-in-Chief, Rint Sybesma (Leiden University) and Brill’s Business Development Manager in Asia, Liesbeth Kanis. Watch the presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8cKgGpoOlQ.
Liesbeth Kanis, Brill’s Business Development Manager in Asia, comments: “Publication of the ECLL is a massive achievement on the part of the editors and the numerous contributors, many of whom are based in Asia. This mammoth academic reference work will prove the primary resource on Chinese languages and linguistics for years to come. We are happy at Brill to offer it to the scholarly world both in print and online.”
Rint Sybesma, Editor-in Chief of ECLL, comments: “It was an ambitious project: Chinese linguistics is a huge field, with a long history both in China and abroad, and it is a field that is very much alive today, so from the start we knew it was going to be monumental. Covering a wide range of topics (from the origin of writing to musical notation and from oracle bone syntax to neurolinguistic processing) in more than 500 articles by more than 350 authors from all over the world, we, as editors, are quite happy with the result. And proud, too, of course.”

EBSCO Health Resources Outscore Competitors for POC Disease/Drug Reference in KLAS Clinical Decision Support 2016 Report
~ DynaMed™/DynaMed Plus® and Nursing Reference Center Rated Highest by Healthcare Providers ~IPSWICH, Mass. — December 6, 2016 — Two EBSCO Health clinical resources were the top performing point-of-care reference tools for disease/drug reference in the KLAS Clinical Decision Support 20161 report. KLAS, a research firm that specializes in monitoring and reporting the performance of healthcare vendors, found that DynaMed™/DynaMed Plus® and Nursing Reference Center™ were the top performing disease reference tool, leading in nearly every area KLAS asked healthcare providers about.
KLAS interviews thousands of healthcare professionals and uses the responses to rate point-of-care Disease Reference and Diagnostic Support tools. Evaluation questions covered several areas, including Sales and Contracting, Implementation and Training, Functionality and Upgrades, and Service and Support.
DynaMed Plus, EBSCO Health’s next-generation clinical information resource designed to decrease time to answer, along with the original DynaMed, received an overall score of 91.9 in the POC Disease/Drug Reference category. DynaMed/DynaMed Plus scored particularly well compared to competitors in questions about Overall Product Quality (See chart).
This is the third time that DynaMed has been rated as the top resource for the Point-of-care Disease Reference category in the KLAS Clinical Decision Support reports2. While this is the first year that DynaMed Plus was considered, the report concluded that evaluation respondents were impressed with the enhancements. “DynaMed Plus, the newest version of DynaMed, is built on the strong DynaMed foundation. Those who use it and those planning to upgrade to it laud its tighter integration with the EMR, updated look and feel, and deeper evidence-based content.”
Nursing Reference Center is EBSCO Health’s point-of-care resource for nurses, providing reference materials for research and for use with patients, continuing education for nurses and opportunities to strengthen nursing skills. It was the top-rated Nursing Reference tool, finishing nearly five points better than the second-best resource. In addition, it was second only to DynaMed/DynaMed Plus in the POC Disease/Drug Reference segment. Nursing Reference Center was also the top nursing reference resource in the last KLAS CDS report which came out in 2013.
EBSCO Health Senior Vice President of Medical Product Management Betsy Jones, says that the KLAS report indicates the EBSCO Health is taking the right steps to meet the needs of its users. “Clinician need to access the most current evidence-based content as efficiently as possible in order to incorporate the information into their treatment decisions. While the systematically reviewed evidence is at the core of our resources, it is gratifying to see that users are satisfied with the overall experience, from implementation and functionality, to service and support.”
