9/8/2016 CONTACT: Nathan Curulla (888) 900-8944 sales@bywatersolutions.com The New York Law School's Mendik Library Goes Live on Koha with ByWater Solutions ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America's forefront provider of Koha support, announced today that the New York Law School's Mendik Library, of New York, NY. is now live on Koha. ByWater Solutions completed the migration of the library's holdings from Millennium earlier this year and is providing ongoing Koha support and hosting services to them.  The Mendik Library's customized online Koha catalog can be viewed at: http://lawlib.nyls.edu/ Bill Mills, Associate Librarian for Information and Technology Resources for the Mendik Library, commented on their decision to move to Koha with ByWater: "Our decision to migrate away from our original ILS, which ran on an in-house server for over 27 years, was spurred by our feeling that the system had ceased to be a cost-effective solution for us. We formed an ILS team, made up of library manager-stakeholders, to investigate several competing ILS alternatives. Our ILS team’s unanimous choice was Koha, in a cloud-based instance hosted and maintained by ByWater Solutions. Its user interface is modern and attractive. And our annual maintenance cost is now just a fraction of its previous amount." Mr. Mills continues; "ByWater’s support team is bright and enthusiastic. Their migration specialists had prior experience with other libraries using our previous ILS, and they devoted intensive attention to our migration. While no migration of this size or scope goes without bumps in its road, ours has been relatively pain-free. ByWater’s support staff gives prompt attention to our many inquiries and requests. Eight months into Koha, we consider the overall experience to be a successful one." About The Mendik Library: Located in the law school’s new building at 185 West Broadway, the Mendik Library provides comfortable research and study facilities for students and faculty. It houses more than 500,000 volumes of books, microforms, and audio/visual materials. The fully air conditioned physical facilities thanks to services of Air conditioner compressors you can find online, lounge seating, and meeting rooms for study groups. A range of sophisticated computer research services and other technological enhancements augment the Library’s superb book collection. The Library’s Online Catalog, automated acquisitions, serials, and circulation control systems provide easy and comprehensive access to the Library’s collections. To maximize the range of materials and facilities available to students and faculty, the Library has joined several library consortia. Our participation in these consortia enables us to arrange access for our students and faculty to other research and academic libraries throughout the New York Metropolitan area. Using bibliographic databases, librarians can locate and arrange for the interlibrary loan of materials from academic, court, public and private libraries throughout New York and the United States.
