New OA Brill journal and book series with HBKU’s Centre for Islamic Legislation and Ethics from 2017

Last week in Doha Mr. Herman Pabbruwe, the CEO of Brill, Dr. Khaled Letaief, Provost of the Hamad bin Khalifa University, and Dr. Tariq Ramadan, the Director of the Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics which is part of the Qatar Foundation’s Hamad Bin Khalifa University, signed a contract for their collaboration on a new journal called Journal of Islamic Ethics. The new journal will be published by Brill, both online and in print, in two issues per year from 2017. The journal will be completely in Open Access and is sponsored by the Qatar Foundation.

A book series will cover related subjects and will also be published in Open Access.

About the journal
The focus of the journal is on the ethical approaches embedded in Islamic philosophy, theology, mysticism and jurisprudence as well as Islamic civilization in general, and, more particularly, on the principles and methods (to be) followed in applying these approaches to various sectors of contemporary social life. These fields include: Arts, Environment, Economics, Education, Finance, Gender, Media, Medicine, Migration & Human Rights, Politics and Psychology. The Journal will strongly focus on thematic issues on current events as well as on individual empirical case studies. The journal welcomes all voices, regardless of their specific positions or backgrounds, as long as they successfully undergo the double-blind peer-review process. Articles will be accepted in English, French and Arabic and extensive abstracts will be provided in English.
