Huntsville Public Library Goes Live on ByWater Solutions Koha Support

ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America's forefront provider of Koha support, announced today that the Huntsville Public Library of Huntsville, Ontario is now live on their Koha open source integrated library system.

ByWater Solutions has completed the migration of the Libraries' more than 56,000 titles earlier this year and is providing ongoing hosting and support services to the library. The Huntsville Public Library's customized online catalog can be viewed at: http://huntsville-ca.bywatersolutions.com/

About the Huntsville Public Library:
Huntsville Public Library is committed to providing quality services, relevant programs, up-to-date collections, and secure library facilities for individuals and groups in the community. The Huntsville Public Library began as a Mechanics' Institute in 1880. Mechanics' Institutes were established in Great Britain in the early 19th century to provide education for working men through study classes, lectures and library facilities. By the late 19th century the Mechanics' Institutes served principally as libraries, as was the case in Huntsville, supported by membership fees and, usually, small municipal and/or government grants. The first known librarian in Huntsville was William Randalson who served from at least 1893 until 1918.

February 1991 saw the official launch of the new automated library system replacing the card catalogue and print circulation system. Throughout the 1990's and 2000's, the library has continued to update automated systems. Patrons are able to access the internet on a regular basis including wireless service. About El Dorado Correctional Facility
The El Dorado Correctional Facility (EDCF) was established in 1991. It was built in response to a federal mandate to ease over-crowding at the state's other two maximum security prisons. Expansion in 2001 brought two new general population cellhouses. The facility is expected to expand in the future. EDCF is a maximum security prison located in Prospect Township in Butler County, Kansas east of the town of El Dorado. EDCF is home of the Kansas Department of Corrections Reception and Diagnostic Unit, or RDU, which processes every male inmate when they are received into KDOC custody. RDU helps determine the inmate's custody level, mental health classification, and educational program needs before he is sent to another facility.
