ByWater Solutions Issues $1,500 VoteLibraries Fundraising Challenge

ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America’s forefront provider of Koha support, has generously made a commitment to donate $1,500 to EveryLibary's VoteLibraries project if we can get $1,500 in matching donations. Donations can be made at https://votelibraries.nationbuilder.com/bywatermatching2016 to help put ads about voting for libraries in front of 300 thousand Americans through online adspace during the primaries.

Since early 2013, EveryLibrary has successfully supported over a dozen bond, levy, parcel tax, and other referendum campaigns for libraries, helping to secure more than $40 million in stable tax revenue for these libraries. The Votelibraries project will not only convince Americans to vote for libraries, but it will help us accomplish another important goal to improve the political eco-system for libraries. Through this project we will be to identify library supporters and create a database of individuals in the public who love libraries and can be activated during a local campaign to help turn out the vote. This is incredibly important because we believe that more than 200 library campaigns will be fought during this presidential year. If we can provide ballot committees and local PACs with the names of local library supporters gathered throughout the primaries, they can get a headstart on winning their campaigns and improve the funding levels of libraries across the country.

Follow EveryLibrary on Twitter and Facebook for updates on this $1,500 challenge from ByWater Solutions.

ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America's forefront provider of Koha support is happy to announce that it was rated #1 in Customer Support for Medium Sized Public Libraries in this year's "Perceptions 2015: An International Survey of Library Automation." ByWater was ranked by their customers for their services supporting the Koha Open Source Integrated Library System. Other mentionable rankings for Koha and ByWater this year include the following:

    • ByWater ranked #2 in Effectiveness of Electronic Resources and Company Loyalty for Medium Sized Public Libraries
    • ByWater ranked #3 in General ILS Satisfaction for All Public Libraries
    • Koha, supported independently, and Koha supported by ByWater ranked in the top 3 for all Academic Libraries in the categories of:
      • General ILS Satisfaction
      • General ILS Functionality
      • Effectiveness in Managing Print Resources
      • Satisfaction with Customer Support
      • Company Loyalty

Nathan Curulla, Co-Owner of ByWater commented on the results of this year's survey:

"I am very excited with the results of this year's Perceptions Survey! We are seeing a steady increase in our scores from year to year and use this report as an important gauge of how our customers view our performance. Although our #1 ranking in support for medium sized libraries was not highlighted in the narrative of the survey we think this accomplishment is the most important benchmark of how well we are doing as a company. Quality of support in a relationship such as this is paramount to everything else in our view, particularly when supporting a product that gives its customers the freedom to choose who to use as a vendor."

Mancos School District Goes Live on the CLiC AspenCat LibLime Koha Union Catalog
North Bethesda, MD, February 5, 2016 – The Mancos School District Libraries have now joined the Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC) AspenCat LibLime Koha union catalog for all collection and patron management services. The Libraries and CLiC staff worked with the LibLime Project Management team to successfully transfer bibliographic, item and patron data to the AspenCat union catalog.

    About The Mancos School District
The Mancos School District serves the community of Mancos, CO. and outlying areas. The building that houses the Mancos High School is the oldest school building in Colorado that is still used as a school. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The School District includes the Mancos Early Learning Center, the Mancos Elementary School, the Mancos Middle School, and the Mancos High School. Mancos is located in southwest Colorado, between Durango and Cortez on US 160. It is five miles east of the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park, and about 40 miles northeast of the Four Corners Monument. Mancos was a stop along the Denver, Rio Grande & Southern Railway, connecting to Durango to the east, and to the Telluride mining districts up north, via Dolores. Ranchers in the Mancos Valley provided beef, timber, and other agricultural products to the mining camps.

    About CLiC
The Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC), headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, serves over 450 libraries throughout the state, many of which also belong to the AspenCat LibLime Koha union catalog. Currently the CLiC database includes over 1,000,000 items. Resource sharing is one of the key components of the system with libraries requesting over 1,200 items from each other every month. Requests are growing as more patrons discover how easy it is to request an item not held at his or her home library. CLiC is committed to maintaining AspenCat as a fully featured, patron-focused system. In partnership with the Colorado State Library, AspenCat offers integration with external databases using EZproxy, integration through the State Library’s Plinkit-based web site hosting service and inter-connectivity with SWIFT, the statewide ILL system. AspenCat also currently offers a cooperative purchase for downloadable audio books from Recorded Books and eBooks from the 3M Library Cloud system. For more information, please contact Bob Bennhoff at 303-422-1150 or bbennhoff@clicweb.org.
