North Bethesda, MD, January 31, 2014- LibLime announces the production release of LibLime Academic Koha 5.6. As with each release of Academic Koha, all features were designed and sponsored by WALDO’s Academic Koha design committees – by librarians for librarians.

LibLime Academic Koha 5.6 is designed around a new Discovery Layer for the application – written with RESTful API to increase local customization and to facilitate dynamic integration with key third party products and resources of use in academic libraries today. Also included in the release is the ability to merge authority records, an OPAC editor, and mobile device support.

As with all versions of LibLime Academic Koha, the entire application resides in the Plack environment for enhanced performance. Further, LibLime Academic Koha uses the Solr seach engine; Solr is the popular open source enterprise search platform from the Apache Lucene project. Solr is highly scalable, providing distributed search and index replication. It powers the search and navigation features of many of the world's largest internet sites.
