    EBSCO Information Services Joins OASPA
~ EBSCO Becomes Member of Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — October 1, 2013 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has joined the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), which represents the interests of Open Access (OA) journals publishers globally in all scientific, technical, and scholarly disciplines through an exchange of information, setting of industry standards, advancing business and publishing models, advocating for gold OA journals publishing, education and the promotion of innovation.

As the leading provider of resources for libraries, including cutting-edge technology and access to journals, e-journals, e-packages, e-books, archives and databases, EBSCO’s membership in OASPA is a natural step in its dedication to the global research communities. EBSCO is the only database aggregator that is also an agent and shares publishers' interests in bringing operational and financial efficiencies to the open access publishing model.

For more than 60 years, EBSCO has worked closely with both libraries and publishers. As a natural intermediary between these two groups, EBSCO shares the interest of both the libraries that it serves and the publishers with whom they work.

EBSCO Vice President of Content Licensing and Strategic Partnerships Mike Wallis says “Becoming a member of OASPA gives EBSCO the opportunity to work even more closely with the OASPA community. We strive to be the most trusted intermediary partner and are devoted to providing value added services and economies of scale to our partners in the scholarly communication arena.”
