EBSCO Information Services has partnered with the Kuali Foundation to advance discovery layer implementations for the Kuali OLE community. With the partnership, EBSCO is looking to support the needs of librarians and end users.

There will be a session at ALA-Annual in Chicago to discuss the EBSCO/Kuali OLE KCA partnership and the overall collaboration objectives on June 29 at 2 p.m.

~ EBSCO Expertise Allows Libraries Using Kuali OLE to Incorporate Discovery into the ILS Implementation ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — June 25, 2013 — The Kuali Foundation is pleased to welcome EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) as one of its newest Kuali Commercial Affiliates (KCA) within the Kuali community. EBSCO will provide expertise in seamlessly integrating discovery services with the Kuali OLE (Open Library Environment) for enhanced access to both print and digital library collections.

As a global leader, EBSCO provides online research databases and discovery services—more than 375 learning and reference products—to corporations, universities, libraries and other institutions around the world.

EBSCO is partnering with Kuali OLE to look at flexible integration options for discovery service layers for the Kuali OLE community. EBSCO Chief Information Officer Michael Gorrell says, as with all partnerships, EBSCO’s goal with Kuali is to allow libraries to craft unique discovery experiences. “The open standards that are the basis for OLE are an intriguing alternative for libraries and the institutions that are implementing OLE represent top universities poised to take academic libraries in new directions. As a discovery service provider, we want to support expanded services to customers and help libraries better define the discovery experience bringing together content and management in a way that serves the needs of librarians and end users alike.”

Kuali is hosting a session at ALA-Annual in Chicago to discuss the EBSCO/Kuali OLE KCA partnership and the overall collaboration objectives. The session will also present specific use cases for OLE discovery layer implementations at University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania, and Indiana University as well as offering a demo of the latest release for Kuali OLE. The session, Kuali Open Library Environment (OLE) 2013: Functionality, Integration and Discovery, is on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at: 2:00-3:00 pm —at the Convention Center—E352, Lakeside Center, Level 3.
