NoveList® Select Enhanced Content Added to the Koha Open Source ILS

ByWater Solutions, an open source community supporter and the U.S.’ forefront provider of Koha support, would like to join the Los Gatos Library in thanking NoveList®, a division of EBSCO Publishing, for assisting in adding NoveList content to the Koha open source ILS.

Henry Bankhead, Interim Town Librarian at Los Gatos Library stated:

“Los Gatos library is exceedingly pleased that Duncan Smith, NoveList and EBSCO were willing to contribute to the Koha development via ByWater Solutions that allows Koha libraries to integrate content from NoveList Select to add richness to our patrons’ OPAC experience. This enhanced content adds reviews from Goodreads, up to date series information, similar titles and authors as well as links to NextReads newsletters and more. Because of this integration this content is available right in our library catalog and is available to any NoveList Select customer using the Koha integrated library system. We were very thankful that Duncan recognized that this integration would be a win-win for EBSCO, for the Koha community, for Librarians and most importantly for library patrons. We hope that this example set by EBSCO will encourage other vendors to contribute to the development.”

Duncan Smith, Vice President of NoveList, shared his thanks with us:

“Thanks to the efforts of ByWater Solutions, libraries that choose Koha as their catalog solution can now easily integrate the rich content from NoveList Select into their online catalog and put expert reading recommendations and other expanded content into the place where it is most visible to library patrons. This is a great example of how libraries and their readers benefit when companies work together to support library success.”

Nicole C. Engard, Vice President of Education at ByWater Solutions thanks all of those involved:

“When educating librarians about open source, I always stress how choosing Koha and open source opens you up to all kinds of new freedoms. This partnership between ByWater, Los Gatos Library and NoveList shows how multiple groups can come together to improve an open source product for the benefit of everyone using it.”
