    Leiden (NL) / Boston (MA) – 7 January 2013

Brill, the international scholarly publisher, has finalized an agreement with Egbert Forsten Publishing to acquire the Indology publications program, effective immediately.

Brill, the international scholarly publisher, has finalized an agreement with Egbert Forsten Publishing to acquire the Indology publications program. The acquisition comprises of three book series: Gonda Indological Studies, Groningen Oriental Studies, and The Skandapurana – a supplement to the Groningen Oriental Series. Also included are 5 forthcoming titles and some 50 backlist titles.

The new Indology titles fit well in Brill’s growing Asian Studies program, building upon its extensive scope while bringing greater cross marketing and global distribution opportunities to the acquired list.

“I am happy that it is Brill that has taken over the responsibility,” says Egbert Forsten, Director of Egbert Forsten Publishing. “They are by far the best candidate to continue this program.”

Sam Bruinsma, Brill VP Business Development adds: “This agreement follows a similar deal in 2011 where Brill acquired the other lists from Egbert Forsten Publishing.”

Effective immediately, Brill assumes publishing responsibilities for titles within the Indology list. As of 1 February, stock will be available via Brill’s distribution channels.
