IPSWICH, Mass. — November 6, 2012 — EBSCO Publishing’s (EBSCO) recent agreement with content partner, Accessible Archives, Inc. will enable additional primary source content to be discoverable within EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS). Metadata from Accessible Archives’ American County Histories to 1900 III: Southeast and The Lily will be added to the EDS Base Index, the most comprehensive and robust collection of metadata from the best content sources. The addition of this content will serve as a valuable resource for EDS users with an interest in American history and culture.

American County Histories to 1900 III: Southeast is one of three geographic grouping of American County Histories to 1900 — an essential resource for local historical and genealogical research. American County Histories to 1900 III: Southeast includes county histories with regional overviews and general community conditions for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The resource includes information about neighbors, friends and associates of family members. Additional subject areas include government, medical and legal professions, churches, industries, schools, celebrations, fire departments, cemeteries, transportation, and local and regional geological conditions.

The Lily was the first newspaper for women which began its print run in 1849. The newspaper was edited by Amelia Bloomer from 1849 to 1854 and by Mary Birdsall during 1855 and 1856, after which it ceased publication. The Lily was originally conceived as a temperance journal but it gradually began to include articles about other subjects of interest to women and coverage soon turned to the issue of women’s rights. Many of these articles were written by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a driving force behind the first women’s rights convention and the women’s rights movement.

The bibliographic and full-text database was developed from a merger of high-quality databases from EBSCO and H.W. Wilson, and includes many unique sources that were never previously available. Humanities Source is the first time the entire H.W. Wilson indexing collection of Humanities research literature is available within a single database.

Humanities Source offers an invaluable collection for students, researchers and educators interested in all aspects of the humanities, with worldwide content pertaining to literary, scholarly and creative thought. The extensive collection features full-text for more than 1,480 journals, high-quality indexing and in-depth abstracts for thousands of journals, and indexing for hundreds of thousands of articles, including book reviews.

Duluth, GA — November 6, 2012

Haywood Public Library has gone live on Evergreen as part of the NC Cardinal consortium. Equinox Software over saw both data migration and staff training. ESI will also continue to provide on-going system administration and technical support for the entire consortium.

Haywood is the ninth library to join NC Cardinal. They migrated 116,000 bib items and almost 30,000 patrons to the combined catalog. The online catalog for entire consortium can be viewed at www.nccardinal.org.

Equinox President, Brad LaJeunesse, says, "Library users in North Carolina are already seeing the benefits of a resource sharing system that allows them access to materials not previously available at their local library. Three additional libraries are already scheduled to join the consortium in early 2013 as they continue to build a statewide system."
