EngagedPatrons.org announces Author Alerts!, a new title notification service for public libraries. Author Alerts! sends an email or text message alert to patrons when the Library orders a new book by their favorite authors/performers.

"The service is dead simple," said Author Alerts! founder Glenn Peterson. "Patrons use a simple web form to enter the names of their favorite authors or performers. When a new title is ordered by the Library the service sends an email or text message to the patron." Email messages include more detail about the title and a direct link to the Library catalog. In addition to authors, patrons can place alerts on performers, musical groups, film studios and more.

"Today's patrons have many choices for reader's advisory information and staying relevant can be a challenge for libraries," says Peterson. "Author Alerts! helps reinforce the Library as the go-to source for information on new titles. Links to the catalog drive patron traffic to the Library website to place requests.

"Patron will love getting the first word about forthcoming titles by popular authors. But equally important, patrons won't miss new titles by authors they love who don't appear on bestseller lists. Patrons often have no reliable way of finding new titles by less popular titles without frequently checking the Library catalog."

EngagedPatrons.org provides web services for libraries, including Author Alerts!, events management, summer reading programs and more. Since 2006, EngagedPatrons has contributed it's services at no cost to small and medium size libraries.
