The Shasta Historical Society Goes Live on Koha with ByWater Solutions

ByWater Solutions, an open source community supporter and official Koha support company, announced today that the Shasta Historical Society, of Redding, CA. is now live on their installation of the Koha integrated library system.

The Library's Koha installation went live this week, and ByWater Solutions will be providing ongoing support and hosting services for them.

The Shasta Historical Society's Library houses a collection of over 50,000 books, maps, papers, photographs, and microfilm relating to Shasta County.

Brianne Lillienthal, Library Associate at the Shasta Historical Society, commented on their decision to switch to Koha with ByWater:

"The Shasta Historical Society is proud to partner with ByWater Solutions. The vast majority of our collection consists of photographs, vertical files and maps, which are not normally catalogued in a traditional method. The staff at ByWater Solutions have been eager to help Shasta Historical move into the modern world of research facilities. "

    About Shasta Historical Society:

The Shasta Historical Society was formed on January 19, 1930, by a group of people who had been collecting then-living pioneers' accounts of their lives in the Gold Rush days. These accounts were then published in the newspaper as "The Trails Of 49." Collecting pioneer stories remains one of the activities of the society, but now it is a larger educational, non-profit organization. Its purposes are not only to collect, but to preserve knowledge about the ongoing history of Shasta County and, when appropriate of adjoining areas, to maintain a depository of such historical material to serve as a research library for its members and others and to spread the knowledge of local history and enjoyment to the public.
