~Ergonomics Abstracts—Providing Indexing on Key Content Related to Ergonomics and Human Factors—to be Available on EBSCOhost®~

IPSWICH, Mass. — October 11, 2011 — EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) has acquired Ergonomics Abstracts™ from Taylor & Francis. The database is focused on ergonomics and human factors. Ergonomics Abstracts provides indexing for eBooks, journal articles and reference works in a variety of fields that will be of value to academic libraries and research institutes as well as ergonomists, health and safety specialists, allied health, design professional and others.

Ergonomics Abstracts includes abstracts of articles from more than 400 leading journals plus book chapters and conference proceedings, and currently includes more than 135,000 online records covering more than 25 years of ergonomics research. Ergonomics Abstracts provides essential information for ergonomists, health and safety specialists, human factors engineers, human computer interaction specialists, designers, systems analysts, industrial engineers, occupational psychologists and occupational and physical therapists.

In addition to mainstream ergonomics, Ergonomics Abstracts provides content from psychology, physiology, biomechanics, job design, human-computer interaction, safety science, human engineering, medicine, occupational health, sport and transport. Specific content includes the following areas:

    • Workplace and equipment design
    • Environment
    • System characteristics
    • Work design and organization
    • Health and safety
    • Social and economic impact of the system
    • Methods and techniques

Dr. David Green, Global Journals Publishing Director for Taylor & Francis Group says, “Taylor & Francis are delighted to have found such a good home for Ergonomics Abstracts. There is a logic in this arrangement which will guarantee a bright digital future for this online service. It was a singleton STM A&I service in our portfolio, and we are sure that EBSCO Publishing will be able to take it to the next level of functionality with the depth and spread of their secondary publishing and the functionality of their platform. We wish this publication every success.”

EBSCO Publishing President Tim Collins says the acquisition of Ergonomics Abstracts is another way to continue to support the needs of libraries and expand access to information. “This database provides coverage for a variety of subject areas that are only gaining in importance. Providing this resource on EBSCOhost® further brings this important content to researchers.” Ergonomics Abstracts will migrate to the EBSCOhost platform by the end of the calendar year.
