Norcross, GA —September 8, 2011

Evergreen, an open-source integrated library system, celebrated its 5th anniversary with the addition of its 1,000th library. NC Cardinal, the newest Evergreen consortium, took the official number of libraries live to 1,006 when the Buncombe County Public Libraries migrated on September 2nd.

Evergreen has added 274 library systems this year and now has outlets running in 30 states and provinces across the US and Canada.More details about Evergreen’s 5th year growth numbers can be found on the official blog at http://evergreen-ils.org/blog/.

Several longtime Evergreen consortia also reached major milestones this year. Evergreen Indiana celebrated its 3rd birthday on August 25th and has grown to 90 library systems statewide. British Columbia Sitka, the first Evergreen consortium outside of Georgia, recently added its 50th library system.

The first implementation of Evergreen went live on September 6, 2006 with the Georgia PINES consortium which currently consists of 280 libraries. Evergreen has earned acclaim and praise from users worldwide, including a Technology Collaboration Award from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. By all indications, Evergreen will continue to see rapid growth during the next year including the addition of the first European Evergreen installations.
