  • LISWire: Craig Stephenson Joins Amigos Board

    August 30, 2011 — Amigos Library Services is pleased to announce that Mr. Craig Stephenson, City Manager for the City of Ponca City, OK, has been appointed to the Amigos Board of Directors. Mr. Stephenson replaces Mr. Joel Valdez, Tucson, AZ, who was unable to serve. He will serve a one-year term on the Board and be eligible for election next spring to complete the remaining two years of Mr. Valdez’s three-year term.

    Mr. Stephenson is a previous member of the Amigos Board, having served from 1992-1998 and 2000-2006. From 2000-2001, Mr. Stephenson served as Chair of the Amigos Board. He has also served as Vice Chair and Treasurer of the Board.

    Mr. Stephenson has served as City Manager of Ponca City since 2009. He previously served Ponca City as Assistant City Manager and Director of Public Works, and is a former Assistant City Manager in Enid, OK, and Dodge City, KS. He is a member of the City Managers Association of Oklahoma, currently serving on its board, and has been a member of the International City/County Managers Association since 1987. Mr. Stephenson also currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group. Additionally, he has served on the boards of St. Mary’s Mercy Hospital in Enid, United Way, and Keep Oklahoma Beautiful.

    Mr. Stephenson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Master of Science degree in Political Science (Public Administration) from Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS.
