Valparaiso Public Library has joined the Pioneer consortium and selected LibLime Koha as their new ILS. The library will be migrating from a hosted Follett Destiny system. The Pioneer LibLime Koha union catalog includes over 430,000 bibliographic records; over 1.1 million items; and also provides support to member libraries using various 3rd party complimentary applications such as telephone renewals, self-checkout machines, and PC reservation software.
“The Valparaiso Public Library Board of Trustees and Staff are extremely happy to have joined the Pioneer Consortium and the LibLime Koha Community”, said Dr. Maria M. Cadwallader, the Valparaiso Library Director. “The Board is especially pleased that the change will reduce costs for online management of our catalog and patron records. I expect wonderful changes for staff members and patrons because the new ILS offers so many functional improvements over our old system. Staff members will immediately like the managerial changes -- everything from detailed statistical reports, to book labels, to overdue notices, which have been difficult to impossible on our old system. Patrons will appreciate the many things they will be able to do online, and patrons and staff will be grateful for the system’s expanded search abilities.”
