September 24, 2010 – LAC Group will present the Illinois Library Association (ILA) Librarian of the Year Award at the ILA Annual Conference awards ceremony, 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 29, at Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois.

Anne Hughes, Director of the Glen Carbon Centennial Library, has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the Librarian of the Year Award. This award, sponsored by LAC Group, recognizes a librarian’s distinguished service and leadership in Illinois libraries.

Anne has been Director of the Glen Carbon Library for the past fifteen years. Her leadership has produced a library that has grown from a small school building to a new state-of-the art 15,000 square foot facility that serves as a destination point for the entire community. The new facility was made possible by Anne’s spearheading of a 2.6 million dollar referendum in 2002. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation along
with Library Journal named the Glen Carbon Library the Best Small Library in America 2010.
