National Workshop on “KOHA: Open Source Software for Library Automation”, BIT.

The workshop will cover installation of KOHA on Windows or Linux operating system, Introduction to Windows or Linux Operating System, customization and configuration of KOHA software, demonstration of all modules like Acquisitions, Cataloguing, Serial Control, Circulation & OPAC, Introduction to MARC 21, multilingual support in KOHA, MARC records, import feature in KOHA etc.
Target Audience The Koha workshop is of great use to the library professionals and Professor I/C of academic libraries, public libraries, special libraries, government departmental libraries, institutional libraries, etc that are interested in library automation. The workshop will help the library professionals to adopt the open source software and benefit from its wide-ranging features.
The number of participants is expected to be 30 and the preference will be given to first-cum-first basis who have basic knowledge of handling computers.
Workshop Fee: The registration fee for the workshop includes workshop kit (software installable, Operating System, Training Material), breakfast, tea, lunch and dinner. Early bird registration (on or before 20th May 2010): Rs. 500.00
Normal registration (after 20th May 2010 & on/ before 4th June 2010):Rs. 600.00
Accommodation (optional, at additional cost)
Accommodation can be provided at BIT guest house for the outstation candidates at additional charges.
Institutional Guest House: Rs. 600 per day
Research Scholar Hostel: Rs. 200 per day
Students Hostel: Free for two day workshop nights
