Bloomfield, CT –mk Sorting Systems is pleased to announce today that Alameda Free Library has installed the mk LibDispenserTM, one of the most technologically advanced solutions to make materials more widely available to patrons anytime and just about anywhere.

Installed near the Alameda Point Collaborative community building on the former Alameda Naval Air Station site, the mk LibDispenserTM provides year around 24 hour access for library patrons to renew, return, reserve and retrieve items outside their local library branch. The chosen system has a capacity of 876 library books, CD’s and DVD’s with the future option to easily expand the system. This stand alone branch is a fully automated service solution that uses the library’s management software (ILS) via SIP2 communication.

“Like many libraries today, Alameda was searching for a new service delivery model that could conveniently serve their library customers in high traffic disparate locations while also considering their ongoing budgetary demands” said Markus Flory, president of mk Sorting Systems. “The mkLibDispenserTM was designed with patron’s busy lives in mind and we are excited that Alameda has chosen to provide this focused type of public service with the LibDispenserTM”
“One of Alameda’s ongoing strategic plan goals is to introduce new library services that match community needs, interests, and priorities” said Jane Chisaki, Alameda Free Library Director. “The mk LibDispenserTM enables us to extend our services into underserved areas of our community while still remaining fiscally responsible, relevant, and effective during these economic times”
