Flexibility, SirsiDynix Relationship Recommend ITG to Canadian Library System

Norcross, Ga. – May 17, 2010: ITG (Integrated Technology Group) continues its expansion into Canada with the addition of Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) to its customer roster. The third largest library system in British Columbia, VIRL is replacing existing self-checkout kiosks from another vendor with ITG XpressCheck™ units. The 38-location system will begin with 8 – 10 units in year one, gradually expanding the system’s self-checkout capacity.

“We awarded the self check contract to Integrated Technology Group because of their flexible, cost-effective software and hardware options,” says VIRL systems services manager Elizabeth Wright. “On average, more than 100,000 items a month are checked out on our self-checkout stations,” she explains. “Our library customers have embraced the new technology.”

Additionally, ITG technologies interface seamlessly with Vancouver Island’s SirsiDynix ILS. As a SirsiDynix Self Service Strategic Partner, ITG works directly with the company to ensure absolute compatibility, timely upgrades, and cutting edge functionality. The special partnership results in a host of technological and support benefits for SirsiDynix users.

VIRL serves more than 400,000 people on Vancouver Island, the Queen Charlottes and the Central Coast (Bella Coola) through 38 branch libraries and a books-by-mail service. Administrative offices are located in Nanaimo, BC. Vancouver Island Regional Library opened its doors in 1936 as the Vancouver Island Union Library; it was the second regional library in North America.
