COLUMBUS, OH --August 20, 2009-- LibLime, the leader in open-source solutions for libraries, announced today that WALNET (Walla Walla Area Library Network) in Washington, has selected a Koha ZOOM hosted solution for their next integrated library system.

The Koha installation will be hosted at one of LibLime's secure data centers. The Library has also contracted with LibLime for full migration of their ILS data, as well as support and training services.

WALNET includes Walla Walla Public Library, Walla Walla Community College Library and the Walla Walla County Library. Formed in 1990, WALNET allows reciprocal borrowing among its members.

Using Koha's granular permissions, the WALNET libraries will share all ILS modules including cataloging, patron database, and the OPAC.

"We are the first public library in Washington state to join LibLime," said library director Martha Van Pelt. "We chose Koha for its flexibility and our desire to part company with proprietary software. We chose LibLime to reduce staff’s burden of server and infrastructure maintenance duties."

"We are looking forward to having a stronger and more participatory role in the future of our ILS," Martha adds.

LibLime is delighted to welcome WALNET to our growing family of Koha libraries in the Pacific Northwest and the very first, as Martha notes, in Washington. The libraries have always held a strong role in their community and we look forward to their input and creativity within the LibLime Koha community.

    About Koha ZOOM

Koha ZOOM is the next-generation release of the award-winning Koha open-source integrated library system. Notably, it includes a powerful search engine based on Zebra, a high-performance indexing and retrieval engine. Koha ZOOM's search engine can read structured records in practically any input format (e.g., email, XML, MARC) and allows access to them through exact boolean search expressions and relevance-ranked free-text queries. It supports large databases (more than ten gigabytes of data, tens of millions of records) as well as incremental, safe database updates on live systems.
