Norcross, Ga. – The Integrated Technology Group (ITG), a division of Vernon Library Supplies, Inc., has partnered with SirsiDynix to install radio frequency identification (RFID) technology at the Albany Public Library in Oregon and the Jessamine County Public Library in Kentucky.

"ITG and SirsiDynix have worked closely to create custom solutions for both the Albany Public Library and the Jessamine County Public Library,” said Ken Evans, vice president of sales for ITG. “The new RFID systems will provide each library with the ability to increase staff efficiency and improve patron services.”

The Albany Public Library is implementing Apex XpressCheck™ patron self-service kiosks, Apex RFID™ security pedestals and a seven-bin Vista FullSort™ automated material handling (AMH) system from ITG, all of which work in conjunction with the integrated library system from SirsiDynix. The new system is being installed in a building that has recently been gutted and remodeled to house the library.

“With a newly renovated and expanded library building nearing completion, Albany Public Library seized the opportunity to implement RFID technology to increase staff efficiency and enhance service for patrons,” said David Tuttle, senior market consultant: RFID & Patron Self Service for SirsiDynix. “As a SirsiDynix Strategic Partner, ITG provided the perfect synergy between the library’s automation system and this new technology.”

The Jessamine County Public Library is rolling out three Apex XpressCheck™ patron self-service kiosks and eight RFID work stations for staff, as well as the integrated library system from SirsiDynix.

“By implementing RFID technology, we expect a monetary return on investment within five years through loss prevention and the fact that the number of circulation personnel will remain static for those five years,” said Dr. Ron Critchfield, executive director of Jessamine County Public Library. “As an intangible ROI, the value added services to our customers will be immediately beneficial and will illustrate to customers the ever increasing quality of service provided by the Jessamine County Public Library.”
