Evergreen Indiana Adds More Libraries, Goes Double Digits

The Evergreen Indiana shared catalog has grown to fourteen libraries, now that Jennings County, Brownstown, Melton, Butler, and Odon Winklepleck Public Libraries have migrated to Evergreen, the consortial-quality open-source library automation software. These five libraries join nine public library systems already part of this consortial catalog administered by the Indiana State Library.
Equinox Software, Inc., the support and development company established by the original Evergreen developers, provided bumper-to-bumper support for the migrations and is providing round-the-clock ongoing technical support for the shared Evergreen Indiana catalog.
Carol Thornton-Anderson, Melton Public Library Director, said, “I am thrilled to be offering the residents of our small rural community access to a consortium with functionality from their home computers.” Mary Hougland, Director of Jennings Public Library, added, "Patrons will find Evergreen easy to use and will like the new features, including images of book covers, the ease of requesting items from other libraries not found in our libraries, and the pre-notification by e-mail before items are due.”

Jennings County Public Library is the largest of the five libraries, with 20,000 patrons and 90,000 bibliographic items.
