Adams Public Library System Goes Live With Evergreen

Adams Public Library System in Indiana has gone live with Evergreen, the consortial-quality open-source library automation software. Adams Public Library is the second library in Indiana to migrate to Evergreen, following Hussey-Mayfield Public Library, which went live in August. Fifteen other Indiana public libraries are on track to migrate to Evergreen by the end of 2008 as part of Indiana Evergreen, a shared-catalog project administered by the Indiana State Library.
Equinox Software, Inc., the support and development company for Evergreen, provided technical assistance to Adams Public Library System, while Alpha-G Consulting oversaw the data migration.
Kelly A. Ehinger, Director of Adams Public Library System, said, “We’re very delighted to be part of this cooperative endeavor.” Ehinger added, “Patrons will find it easy to use and will like the new features including images of book covers, the ease of requesting items from other libraries not found in our libraries, and the pre-notification by email before items are due.”
“We’re delighted to see that Evergreen Indiana now represents library communities from A to Z – from Adams Public Library System to Hussey-Mayfield in Zionsville,” added Brad LaJeunesse, Equinox company president.
Adams Public Library System, with locations in Decatur and Geneva, is the first multi-branch library system in Indian to move to Evergreen. The system, created in February, 2008 through a merger of the Decatur and Geneva Public Libraries, traces its history back to 1843, with the establishment of the Adams County Library. Adams Public Library System has a collection of 90,000 bibliographic items and serves approximately 7,000 patrons.
